It has been a number of years since Sapphire introduced its last AMD motherboard – now the company is making a worldwide return after revealing its initial models in China.
When you encounter the Sapphire hardware brand while assembling a PC, you probably predominantly think of Radeon graphics cards. After all, the Hong Kong-based firm has served as an exclusive AMD partner for many years.
But were you also aware that Sapphire previously produced motherboards for AMD processors? No? Then you’ll likely become familiar with them soon: Following an initial appearance at Computex 2025, Sapphire is proclaiming “something thrilling,” which is likely the global rollout of new motherboards.
“Sapphire Nitro+” – soon to be a motherboard brand
The announcement was shared via the manufacturer’s official X account, which also released a brief teaser image along with the excitement.
In addition to the brand name “Nitro+,” which has been utilized for custom GPUs in recent years, a small preview of the product can also be spotted. Along with the typical motherboard shape, including a segment of an I/O panel, a CPU socket is also visible.

As previously stated, Sapphire had already declared these motherboards at Computex 2025. The boards encompassed all current AM4 and AM5 chipsets – from A520 to X870E, all were included. However, at that juncture, only a launch in China was referenced, while global availability remained uncertain until the very end.
And indeed, a German retailer (via Geizhals): The introduction of the Sapphire Nitro+ B850M WiFi is likely on the horizon.
- This is an entry-level motherboard utilizing the AM5 socket, allowing for the installation of any Ryzen 7000/9000 series CPU.
- If the remainder of the specifications provided by the retailer are accurate, there are four slots for DDR5 RAM with a maximum speed of 8,000 MT/s.
- Additionally, there are a total of seven USB-A ports and one USB-C port on the rear. Regarding storage, there are two M.2 slots and four SATA ports in total.
Other characteristics include WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3; PCI Express 5.0 x16 support is available for the graphics card. Nevertheless, the listings thus far do not disclose precisely when the launch can be anticipated – but we can estimate the approximate RRP from the offer, which is likely to be around €156.
