When Elegance Turns Into a Threat
The shadowy overlords of Nightreign have gained reinforcements – yet not all are welcome. With the so-called Everdark variant of the Intelligent Plague, a new foe looms that has already made many sweat in its simpler form. But now the stakes are getting really high.
What makes this confrontation so unique is the dynamic pair of bosses: a beetle on the ground, as sturdy as rock, and a flying moth that incessantly casts spells – both are tricky to strike and even tougher to conquer. Once they join forces in phase two, the encounter transforms into a true downpour of magic, light, and turmoil. Those favoring melee combat have scant chance against the agile moth anyway.
In forums and on Reddit, remarks from displeased fans are currently accumulating. While some maintain their sense of humor and refer to “magic diarrhea” coming their way, others candidly express that they never wish to face this boss again. The community is split—but one thing is evident: the level of frustration is immense.
Nonetheless, FromSoftware is steadfast. Adjustments for balance? Not a chance. On the contrary, the developers have suggested that they intend to push this very limit. And reviewing previous updates, it seems improbable that the boss will be weakened in its current state.
Nightreign Update Boss Introduces Total Escalation
Beginning July 3, at 3 a.m. sharp, the moment will finally come: The Ever Dark version of Gnoster will debut – as the official highlight of the upcoming Nightreign update. With this, the title is finally intensifying the excitement for PvE enthusiasts. To secure victory in battle, you’ll need to flawlessly synchronize your gear, timing, and movements.
Notably: Unlike many past bosses, Gnoster not only compels you to reevaluate your tactic but also to collaborate. In co-op mode, especially, it becomes evident how much success hinges on well-defined roles – like a tank who distracts the beetle while ranged attackers focus on the moth.
With the new update, you can now clearly identify which type each weapon belongs to in every weapon menu. Furthermore, issues in matchmaking have been addressed, as well as a bug in the multiplayer gesture “It’s raining!”, which now operates correctly once more.
As per usual, all other modifications can be found in the official patch notes.
