Heroes of Might & Magic is undergoing a revival, supported by publishers Hooded Horse and Ubisoft in the development of Unfrozen’s Heroes of Might & Magic: Olden Era, the first new installment in the franchise in more than ten years. Furthermore, Ubisoft is revitalizing the series’ most celebrated title, Heroes of Might & Magic 3.
The remake incorporates numerous enhancements for user experience while preserving the essence of the original. It includes a fresh three-mission prologue to familiarize players with the narrative and game mechanics, followed by the classic campaign along with its expansions, Armageddon’s Blade and The Shadow of Death, providing access to all nine factions.
A key feature of the remake is its compatibility with custom maps and campaigns developed over the last 25 years. Ubisoft showcased how original map files can be loaded into the remake’s map editor, updating them into contemporary-level designs. This capability pays tribute to the devoted Heroes of Might & Magic 3 community that remains active with the game long after its original launch.
