Valve Unveils New Steam Machine, Steam Controller, and Steam Frame VR Headset – And I've Tested Them


Ye gads, there are three of them. You might have heard that a Valve hardware announcement was imminent, but the Steam overseers’ most significant metal-and-circuits unveiling since the Steam Deck actually revolves around a power trio: a brand new Steam Machine, a freshly designed Steam Controller, and the Steam Frame hybrid VR headset. They’re all confirmed, and all expected (pricing and precise dates TBA) in early 2026.

I’ve had the opportunity for some quality hands-on experience with them myself, having been mysteriously beckoned to Valve HQ late last month (travel/accommodation at our own expense, before anyone tries to be clever). Complete insights can be found in the links below, and I’ll say this upfront: all three exhibit a distinct Steam Deck influence, whether it’s in the design aesthetic, the advantages of Proton-enhanced game compatibility, or simply the delight of a quality thumbstick.
