New Lego Game Calls to Mind Rocksteady's Iconic Arkham Trilogy, but Players Should Tread Carefully.

Lego has unveiled a fresh Batman journey titled Legacy of the Dark Knight, with gameplay strikingly reminiscent of the Arkham series.

At the gamescom Opening Night Live Show, a new Lego Batman title was presented: Legacy of the Dark Knight. The initial gameplay footage has now been shown, and it bears a notable resemblance to the acclaimed Arkham trilogy from Rocksteady Studios. This has ignited excitement among fans for an Arkham game that isn’t actually one.

## The first Lego Batman title in more than a decade

**What it’s about**: Legacy of the Dark Knight features various iconic Batman narratives spanning decades of comics, series, and movies. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that all characters and vehicles, along with the majority of the surroundings, are constructed from Lego bricks. Included are themes from Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy and characters that were previously exclusive to the comics.

As one of the many figures from the Batman universe, players can navigate open Gotham or move through confined spaces, battling foes, demolishing structures, gathering bricks, and solving challenges. The reveal trailer hints at a plethora of references and the humorous slapstick that Lego games are famous for. Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is set to launch in 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2.

## “I can’t wait to dive into Lego Batman: Arkham Bricks”

The gameplay is creating considerable buzz online. A multitude of fans are reminded of the iconic Arkham games by Rocksteady due to the combat and several other features, now hoping the magic of the trilogy will be resurrected. BlueSky user Ross Tweets Games has even aptly renamed the game:

> I never thought a Lego game could get me this hyped again. Wow, I can’t wait to experience Lego Batman: Arkham Bricks.

Voices on Reddit resonate similarly. For instance, maiklg comments:

> That looks like Batman Arkham Lego Edition. It even has the same explosive spray!

Reddit user erevanx444 also mentions that the familiar detective mode will be included.

**It resembles Arkham, but… :** Despite the resemblances, the crucial distinctions shouldn’t be overlooked. Not only is the Lego game considerably lighter in tone, but crafting a coherent story also takes a backseat. The visuals contribute significantly, creating a distinctly different ambiance in parts compared to the Arkham series. To date, three Lego Batman titles have been released between 2008 and 2014. The first two spin-offs continue to be regarded as two of the finest Lego games ever created. In 2018, another Batman-themed game, DC Super Villains, was released.
