Escape from Tarkov is poised to hit version 1.0 in November 2025.
There’s fantasy Tarkov. There’s Tarkov set in space. There’s Diablo-style Tarkov. There’s even Tarkov featuring no PvP.
In summary: Escape from Tarkov has certainly motivated numerous titles and sparked a whole wave of games that, in the wake of the battle royale craze, are now enthusiastically embracing the extraction genre (though not always with success).
However, throughout these years, the original has remained unfinished, moving from one early access update to another. Now, it’s finally reaching completion: On November 15, 2025, nearly 9 years after the shooter first launched, the ultimate release is anticipated to arrive.
High expectations, minimal concrete details
There are still no specifics regarding what will be altered in version 1.0. Lately, there have also been ongoing complaints regarding bugs. Regardless, the community’s hopes are likely to be elevated. On Reddit, a user has commented in reply to the announcement:
However, version 1.0 would benefit from a 5-page list of bug fixes being included.
Will there be new content like quests, weapons, and maps? There is mention of a campaign featuring a main narrative, but this has yet to be confirmed for version 1.0.
First, the developers are focused on patch 0.16.9.0, a significant interim update that will connect Tarkov’s PvE zone with the arena game mode, enabling progress from the arena mode to carry over to the PvE zone in the future.
Uncertainty regarding Steam
A significant uncertainty exists concerning the Steam version in relation to the final release. Developer Battlestate Games has consistently affirmed a Steam release but has never provided a date or specific details.
The launch of 1.0 would indeed be an ideal moment to transition to Steam, as Escape from Tarkov can currently only be accessed via a separate launcher available on the developer’s website.
