Battlefield 2042 is making a comeback with a significant update, ensuring players receive fresh content without delay. The update, named Road to Battlefield 6, is a 7.3 GB file for PC and provides a complimentary Battle Pass from August 18 to October 7. Gamers can earn 60 levels of rewards, which include 6 skin packs for the forthcoming Battlefield 6, scheduled for launch on October 10, 2025. These packs feature cosmetics for weapons, vehicles, and soldiers.
The update reintroduces the iconic Iwo Jima map, recognized from earlier Battlefield titles, which includes an active volcano that influences gameplay. There are two new weapons to try out: the KFS2000 assault rifle and the Lynx sniper rifle, the latter being automatically available for those who participated in the beta. Furthermore, two fresh fighter jets, the A10 Warthog and the SU-25TM Frogfoot, are added, emphasizing vehicle warfare and resulting in diminished attack power from other aircraft against vehicles.
Update 9.2 also delivers a multitude of enhancements and bug resolutions across weapons, modes, vehicles, and maps. The Battlefield community team has included fan-created artwork in player cards, with an event featuring the finest community designs scheduled for September in the Portal.
