Neue deutsche RPG folgt den Pfaden von Gothic und The Witcher

A forthcoming action role-playing title known as Asterfel is on the horizon from the Germany-based studio Mysteria. The Steam page reveals that the primary inspirations are Gothic and The Witcher. Appropriately, the international team also features former developers from Piranha Bytes and CD Projekt Red.

What is Asterfel?

In this role-playing adventure with a third-person perspective, you arrive on the island of Asterfel as a survivor of a shipwreck. The avaricious king of the island has compelled his workers to excavate too deeply in the enchanted mines, awakening a dormant god.

His sorcery is now permeating the island, rendering nature erratic. Additionally, the deceased are rising from their graves and assaulting the living.

Throughout the game, you can undertake missions from three distinct factions, align with a side, or engage in trade with all of them while uncovering their motives.

  • Crown Warden: Devoted followers of the king
  • Kindred: Insurgent group that liberates trapped workers from the mines
  • Scholars: A collective of magicians investigating the land

For combat, you can select from swords, bows and arrows, and magical runes that permit spellcasting. However, you can also develop your unique play style from the array of available options.

In the open world, you will encounter castles, villages, dense jungles, and ancient ruins, which you can explore as much as you desire, constrained only by your ability to cope with the progressively stronger foes. The game aspires to establish an atmosphere primarily influenced by Gothic. Presently, there are no definite release plans for Asterfel. Nonetheless, you can already add the game to your wish list via the Steam page. The remake of Gothic will not debut until 2026, so perhaps Mysteria Studios can satisfy fans’ anticipation.
