**Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon** has undergone its most substantial update to date with patch 1.03. The dedicated team at Questline has taken action on numerous requests and concerns from players. However, this is merely the start—a significant content update is slated for August.
## Patch 1.03 delivers an extensive set of enhancements
Since June 6, 2025, Patch 1.03 has been active, introducing a myriad of fixes and optimizations to the dark mini-Skyrim.
**Numerous technical problems have been resolved:** Irritating crashes when resetting merchant inventories are now a thing of the past, as are memory leaks affecting UI components that occasionally caused choppy gameplay. An especially bothersome save game glitch due to improper detection of Steam has also been addressed.
**Gameplay adjustments have also been made:** Once you have finished the primary narrative, you can now freely continue exploring the world without being unexpectedly redirected to the main menu. Additionally, key NPCs have been equipped with safeguards to stop you or adversaries from inadvertently sending them to the afterlife.
Certain quests that were previously hindered by blockages and could not be completed now function seamlessly. The full list of changes can be found on the following page of this article.
## Looking ahead: Patch 1.1 and beyond
Exciting times are approaching in the upcoming weeks. Questline has shared a roadmap outlining the journey ahead:
– Weekly patches will persist in resolving bugs and enhancing performance.
– Mod support is anticipated to launch in three to four weeks.
– A dedicated Steam Deck version is also under development so you can enjoy the adventure on the move.
But the real highlight awaits in August: Patch 1.1 introduces new content for the Forlorn Swords region (Act 3) and greatly broadens the world of Avalon once again. The developers are keeping specific details about the area’s expansion under wraps to maintain the element of surprise, but they assure that there will be “really cool new features.”
### Tainted Grail 1.03 – Patch Notes
**Critical bug fixes:**
– A source of crashes has been rectified. We are in the process of addressing another bug, but it requires extensive testing before we can deliver it to you.
– (Missing save files on PC) The most frequent reason for missing save files on PC was due to the game being unable to locate Steam and instead loading GoG or fallback save files. Last week, we included a pop-up that alerts you when Steam cannot be detected. This week, we introduced a pop-up asking if you wish to automatically relocate the save files identified in other directories to your Steam folder. We advise everyone to carry out the migration via the pop-up window.
– Items with unique effects have been optimized. This should enhance performance for players who are further along in the game or have gathered numerous unique items.
– Some memory leaks within our user interface have been addressed.
– A quest in the fields of Cuanacht no longer indefinitely stops players from saving (Monstrous Marriage).
– Lockpicking now operates using the main camera. The significant reduction in memory usage is particularly crucial on consoles.
**Most requested:**
– After completing the game, you can now choose whether to keep playing and further explore the world or exit the game.
– Essential NPCs in the Cuanacht and Forlorn Swords regions can no longer be killed. Players must now intentionally eliminate them to avert accidental deaths by the player or other foes.
– Enemies will no longer shoot backwards when the player dodges behind them.
– An option has been added at the fireplace to revive Qrko if he has been lost.
– Visual alterations have been made for spells such as “Impenetrable Shield,” “Mystical Protection,” and “Arcane Shield.”
– (Items) The weight of items is now shown to two decimal places for extremely light items; otherwise, it remains rounded to one decimal place.
– (Items) The upgrade of 53 distinct weapons has been rebalanced to ensure they take damage while enhancing their unique effects.
– (Items) Items now acquire additional effects when upgraded in crafted sets.
– (Items) The weight reduction of armor upon upgrading has been rebalanced.
– (Summoning) Fixed an issue where player summons occasionally did not attack when outside the player’s line of sight.
– (Summoning) Fixed an issue where player summons wouldn’t engage NPCs that were neutrally inclined towards the player by default, even if the player was in combat with them.
– (Summoning) Summoned beings should now be able to exit indoor areas alongside you.
– (Summoning) Collisions with player summons outside of combat have been disabled.
