Daily, numerous enthusiasts integrate graphics cards into their computers. CherryTree has reversed this concept and created an entire computer within a GPU.
There are personal computer configurations categorized as “stylish” or “innovative,” or those that simply illuminate like an overstuffed Christmas tree.
Then comes the “Geefarce 5027 POS” (not our naming), which was showcased on the YouTube channel Gamers Nexus recently. It’s claimed to be a graphics card, but it actually houses a complete gaming PC:
The GeeFarce 5027 POS utilizes a faulty Gigabyte graphics card from the RTX 20 series. The specific model is not identified. Instead of discarding this hardware as electronic refuse, the custom PC company CherryTree took advantage of the situation and constructed a computer from it that is likely one-of-a-kind and thus not available for purchase.
The firm extracted the original GPU components and replaced them with a full Asus NUC 13 Pro motherboard inside the graphics card shell.
At the core of the GeeFarce 5027 POS is an Intel Core i7-1360P processor from the Raptor Lake lineup, boasting 12 cores and 16 threads, reaching a maximum boost frequency of 5 GHz.
The integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics includes 96 execution units (EUs) and can clock up to 1.5 GHz. CherryTree additionally outfitted the system with 64 GB DDR4-3200 SO-DIMM RAM and a 2 TB MP33 PCIe 3.0 SSD.
While the original heat sink from the graphics card could not be utilized due to spatial limitations, the three fans from the Gigabyte cooling system were kept and now deliver active cooling for the NUC components. This layout ensures that all connections of the NUC 13 Pro remain accessible through the I/O panel of the “graphics card.”
For the power supply, CherryTree transformed the actual 8-pin PCIe power connector into a hollow plug connector, allowing the system to be powered by an external power supply.
Regarding gaming performance, the GeeFarce 5027 POS demonstrates the shortcomings of integrated graphics solutions, as anticipated. Gamers Nexus performed multiple thorough tests and noted an overall score of 19,029 points in 3DMark Night Raid, among other assessments.
However, when directly compared to a system with a six-year-old GeForce RTX 2070 Super, a distinct performance gap is evident: the dedicated GPU system delivers 492 percent higher graphics performance.
The GeeForce 5027 POS will not settle the discussion about adequate gaming hardware, but it certainly raises interest.
