Following a commanding victory over Gen.G Esports, we spoke to BLG Bin about today’s performance and his thoughts on his next opponent T1. You can also find the complete interview in Chinese by clicking here.

Interview with BLG Bin: “We always felt Gen.G couldn’t beat us”

The Chinese top laner went on a rampage against the Korean first seed, demolishing his counterpart Doran in the first two games, and closing out the series with a combined KDA of 16/8/24. When asked about his performance and how he would rate himself, he immediately went for a clean 10 out of 10.

Coming into the series, BLG was seen as the worst team among the four eastern squads left. The LPL second seed took no time to prove everyone wrong, showing signs of improvement each time they played a new team. Bin, however, didn’t think they made major adjustments:

I think it mainly depends on the form we have. We didn’t really make adjustments, because we always felt like Gen.G couldn’t beat us.

I briefly asked him about Elk’s sudden change of playstyle, considering the ADC was the backbone and the DPS player in the series. Compared to the match against G2 Esports, BLG’s carry didn’t overstep in most situations, and his positioning in teamfights was almost flawless. “He [Elk] felt like he died too much last time out so he stopped playing that way,” Bin said.

Aside from the teamfights, BLG showed great levels of macro play and team coordination, especially when it came to the map movements. I asked Bin how they manage to have such good and quick decision-making and whether the team makes the decision collectively or not. He said:

If we play a 4-1 comp, it’s usually the ADC making the calls. If we go for teamfights, however, it’s just everyone focusing on its own job.

Gen.G tried to surprise BLG by picking up Kindred in the jungle for Game 3. Bin claimed he didn’t expect the enemy to play it since it’s not a champion Peanut plays often. Regardless, they were able to win and close out the series.

Now that BLG have made it into the top three at MSI, they will be facing T1 in the losers’ bracket finals. Despite T1 taking JDG to a 5-game series in the winners’ bracket finals, Bin thinks they can take down the other LCK team:

I think T1 is not as strong as last year. We beat them last year [at MSI], so I think we should be able to win this time around as well.

After taking down Doran today, Bin will face T1 Zeus in the next series. According to the Chinese top laner, he will take the same approach he took against Gen.G’s top laner: “It’s probably the same way. I believe Zeus and Doran are more or less at the same level. Zeus wasn’t even able to beat Doran in the finals, so playing the usual way should be fine.”

Last time out, I asked BLG’s jungler Xun his thoughts about food in London and how he was adapting to the Western country. I ended up asking a similar question to Bin, who ended up saying he still preferred Chinese food.

With BLG facing T1 tomorrow to determine the second finalist of MSI, Bin wanted to thank the fans and mentioned they will keep working hard to make it.
