Well, I mention privately. It appears that if I had wished to view a recorded stroll through a segment of The Witcher III: Wild Hunt’s Songs of the Past expansion, I could have simply tuned into the Gamescom livestream instead of journeying to Germany and sitting in a nearly dark tiny theater for 45 minutes. Now my handwritten notes made by touch are entirely unreadable, and I don’t even get to feel proud about being at an ultra-secret preview.
Nevertheless, the preview – which, like Songs of the Past itself, was a collaborative effort between CD Projekt Red and co-developers Fool’s Theory – did not solely showcase the expansion. It also emphasized repeatedly the combat, movement, UI, and role-playing alterations being introduced in the base game’s Remastered update, which is set to release months prior to Songs of the Past on September 29th. And, with the usual hands-off caveats in place, it appears to be the more enticing package for returning Witchers – particularly since it’s free for those who own the original.
