Memoirium: A PSX-Influenced Soulslike of Dream Fights and Bedroom Design

I’m unsure whose visions Memoirium distorts into action-RPG soulslike realms – it might not even belong to the player character – but whoever they are, they ought to refrain from indulging in post-10pm Babybels. In addition to an abundance of chair-wielding thugs and horn-faced creatures, this blocky dreamscape is rife with the kind of fragmented fantasy architecture that could lead an unsuspecting dodgeroller to plummet disastrously from a hundred-foot-high ledge. Moreover, the ledge is a colossal sword.

This was merely one of my demises in Memoirium’s generously sized demo, which is currently available on Steam in anticipation of the game’s release this Thursday. Even at these early stages, it’s evident that the subconscious you’re trapped in likely doesn’t belong to a satisfied vicar, starting off in a void-damaged graveyard before guiding you across a deteriorating statue into a cult-like school. Nevertheless, ordinary reprieve can be found through Memoirium’s unique approach to bonfire rest areas: a bedroom that, resources allowing, you can equip and decorate to your preferences.
