If there’s one clear critique you can direct at Forza Horizon 6, besides the question of its funding, it’s that Playground Games’ newest installment is undoubtedly an iterative follow-up. There’s an abundance within it that you’ll recognize and experience again if you’ve engaged with earlier titles. Clutch, the inaugural racing title from ex-Forza director-led studio Maverick Games, is certainly not satisfied with merely adhering to a single recognized formula. After watching the developers at Maverick present their first extensive livestream showcasing the game in action, it’s apparent they’re attempting to juggle even more influences drawn from various styles of driving games than I had initially anticipated. However, whether it successfully integrates all of those aspects is yet to be determined.
