As I compose this text, Julian has recently published a piece on Signet City, the fresh “fungalpunk” RPG from Citizen Sleeper and In Other Waters creator Gareth Damian Martin, where you play as a sentient parasite gliding through the minds and bodies of an entire urban populace. Undoubtedly, it is a remarkable narrative of what is probably a masterpiece of post-anthropocentric poetics, presuming I’m accurately understanding Gareth’s current theoretical interests. Regrettably, I lack the time to read the article due to a dreadful mushroom in my foot that seems intent on consuming my brain.
The infestation audibly squelches beneath me as I maneuver myself between the levels of an apartment building adorned with moldy pizza and rusted chains. The more it proliferates, the more… intricate the squelching becomes, and the louder the moans of my avatar as I stagger from door to door in a frantic search for lotion.
