Annapurna Interactive has released a fresh trailer and further details for “The Lost Wild,” a survival horror title that immerses players in an island filled with dinosaurs. Created by Great Ape Games, a group of seasoned UK developers with experience at Rare, Hanger 13, The Chinese Room, and Supermassive, the game offers a distinct challenge akin to a contemporary “Jurassic Park.” The island is dotted with remnants of scientific outposts, where dinosaurs have mysteriously persisted into modern times.
Gary Napper, the creative director who joined the team in 2025, brings his knowledge from his work on Creative Assembly’s “Alien: Isolation.” This influence is apparent in “The Lost Wild,” as players are tasked with outsmarting and dodging dynamic, adaptive enemy AI. In contrast to conventional survival horror games, players are unarmed, depending on distractions and environmental tactics to traverse the dangerous terrain.
A notable thematic shift from “Alien: Isolation” is the focus on coexisting with the dinosaurs rather than eliminating them. Napper emphasizes that the objective is to avoid harming these creatures, depicting them as entities striving for survival, unlike the aggressive aliens in his earlier project. This perspective urges players to honor the dinosaurs, introducing an ethical intricacy to the survival horror genre.
