UK MPs accuse Rockstar, the studio behind GTA 6, of "not adequately interacting with employees" amidst legal battles over the termination of developers.

Numerous UK politicians have recently called on Rockstar Games to embrace a more open and collaborative stance in their current legal matters related to the termination of GTA 6 developers last year. The issue first arose in the autumn of last year when over 30 employees were dismissed by Rockstar. The company defended these terminations by claiming that the workers had disclosed “confidential information” on a public platform. However, the IWGB Game Workers Union has contested these assertions, accusing Rockstar of engaging in anti-union activities.

The legal conflict between Rockstar and the union continues to develop, with the union pursuing legal action against the company for allegedly refusing to enter into dialogue concerning the dismissals. In response to these events, several UK Members of Parliament have admonished Rockstar for their lack of transparency and participation. They have charged the company with not adequately engaging with employees, representatives, and trade unions during the legal proceedings.

This issue has attracted considerable attention, emphasizing the ongoing friction between major gaming corporations and their workforce, especially with regard to labor rights and unionization initiatives. The resolution of this legal conflict could carry wider ramifications for the gaming sector, particularly in relation to how companies manage employee relations and the role of unions in championing workers’ rights.
