Naval Combat Feature for Crusader Kings 3's Silk and Silver DLC Would Have Interfered with Paradox's Timeline

Naval Combat Excluded from Crusader Kings 3’s Upcoming DLC

Paradox Interactive has revealed that the much-awaited naval combat feature will not be part of the forthcoming DLC for Crusader Kings 3, named “Silk and Silver.” This expansion, which centers on merchant republics, is expected to debut later this year. The choice to exclude naval battles was taken to maintain the feature’s quality and integrity, as the developers seek to honor the complexity of naval engagements rather than hastily implement them.

The studio recognized the intricacies and hurdles related to incorporating naval combat into the game. They voiced a preference to steer clear of forcing the feature into a DLC that is already laden with substantial risk and complexity. Moreover, adding naval warfare at this time would have interfered with their proposed development timeline, potentially causing delays in releasing the expansion.

Paradox Interactive is dedicated to providing a rich and immersive experience with the “Silk and Silver” DLC, which will unveil new mechanics and features focused on merchant republics. Although naval combat will not be featured in this release, the studio has not dismissed the chance of its future inclusion in updates or expansions, assuring that when it does debut, it will be a thoughtfully developed and essential part of the Crusader Kings 3 experience.
