Stunning, Imperfect MMO Book of Travels Evolves into a $5 Solo RPG, Challenging Industry Norm of Closing Down Underperforming Online Games

I’ve been an ashamed admirer of Book of Travels for quite some time, the “small MMO” heavily inspired by Swedish indie creators Might & Delight. It presents a realm of magical strings, expansive forests with cutaways, delightful tea sets, and drowsy quasi-Oriental cities. Our previous news writer Lauren Morton referred to it as “the remedy for my separation from MMOs” back in 2021. However, it has never fully achieved its goals, with the developers reducing their team by about 25 after a challenging early access debut, and delaying the introduction of new regions and functionalities.
