Larian Studios, celebrated for their achievements with the much-lauded “Baldur’s Gate 3,” is turning their attention to a fresh Divinity RPG. CEO Swen Vincke has communicated a goal for a more efficient development timeline, aiming for a total duration of “three to four years,” which encompasses an early access stage. This represents a notable decrease from the protracted development timeline of their former title.
The revelation of Larian’s upcoming project emerged in April 2024, when it was disclosed that the studio was engaged in the creation of two new titles. By leveraging Rock Paper Shotgun’s Mirror of Fate, forecasts indicate that the new Divinity RPG might be ready to exit early access by 2027 or 2028.
In an effort to improve productivity, Larian is said to be employing generative AI in a limited capacity for certain tasks such as the creation of concept art and internal presentations. Though this strategy might enhance specific production elements, it simultaneously prompts discussions regarding the place of AI in creative endeavors.
As Larian sets forth on this ambitious schedule, enthusiasts of the Divinity series eagerly look forward to a new installment, wishing for an effortless fusion of innovation and the deep storytelling for which the studio is famous.
