Skyblivion's Launch Postponed to 2026; Check Out an Interactive Map Now

Skyblivion, the ambitious modification initiative focused on recreating The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion using The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’s engine, has announced a postponement in its launch timeline. Originally planned for a 2025 debut, the team has now indicated that the mod is set to be released in 2026. This delay aims to afford the team extra time to tackle outstanding issues and guarantee a refined end product.

The postponement comes after remarks from former Skyblivion level and world designer Dee Keyes, who labeled the 2025 launch target as “futile and unattainable.” Keyes criticized project leader Kyle ‘Rebelzize’ Rebel and implementation lead Heavy Burns for hurrying the project and poorly managing internal communication. Keyes elaborated on his views in a video chat with Eurogamer, a sister publication of Rock Paper Shotgun.

In light of Keyes’ statements, Heavy Burns countered that many of the claims were either distorted or false. Despite these internal disputes, the Skyblivion team stays dedicated to producing a high-caliber mod that fulfills the hopes of fans eagerly anticipating its arrival. As development progresses, players can engage with an interactive rendition of the mod’s map to preview what is in store.
