I adore the eco-friendly talents of Generation Exile, a solarpunk city-building game created by former developers of Far Cry and Firewatch, although it comes off as rather chaotic.

**Generation Exile: A Fresh Eco-Aware Strategy Sim from Sonderlust Studios**

Sonderlust Studios, an independent developer based in Canada, has revealed their newest project, “Generation Exile,” an eco-aware turn-based strategy simulation game. The studio proudly features a team of seasoned industry professionals, including Nels Anderson, recognized for his contributions to “Mark of the Ninja” and “Firewatch,” Karla Zimonja, who played a role in “Gone Home” and “Tacoma,” and Marri Knadle, with a background from “Far Cry 5 & 6.”

In “Generation Exile,” players are assigned the role of guiding a community of humans aboard a massive colony ship, resembling the grand crafts from Iain M. Banks’s Culture series. However, in contrast to those opulent vessels, this one offers a contaminated and perilous hexagonal wilderness, reminiscent of the ambiance found in “Scavenger’s Reign.”

Players need to rise from the depths of the ship, set up an outpost, and revitalize each vast biome before the ship finalizes its journey. The game challenges players to maneuver through personality interactions and branching dialogue missions, similar to those in 11-Bit’s management simulations. Moreover, they must face a mysterious “entity” from the Earth they abandoned.

“Generation Exile” guarantees a distinctive mix of strategy, ecological awareness, and narrative richness, establishing itself as an intriguing addition to the strategy simulation genre.
