The Voice Actor Portraying Istvan Toth is Kicking Off a KCD Stream on Twitch
The next actor is becoming a Kingdom Come streamer: If this trend continues, we’ll soon have the opportunity to watch a voice actor stream every day of the week. Which is certainly not a complaint!
The new addition is also the most seasoned KCD veteran among the current streamers: Logan Hillier, who provided his face and voice for both games as Sir Istvan Toth. In other words, Henry’s greatest foe (apologies to dear Markvart von Aulitz, but Istvan has conquered Henry’s most terrible fears).
Anyone who has always thought that the honorable Lord Toth genuinely desires what’s best for Bohemia and is thoroughly misunderstood will surely enjoy the Twitch stream. Logan has long argued that Henry is the far worse antagonist, and now he’s amassing evidence to substantiate that claim.
But Hold On, How Can Henry Be the Villain?
Henry is undeniably the hero of Kingdom Come, even if he makes some pretty brutal choices. And Istvan is merely a nasty, merciless villain focused solely on his own advancement – right?
At first glance, that might appear to be true, but Logan contends that the reality is much more intricate. Warhorse rarely, if ever, constructs entirely black-and-white narratives, which is exactly what makes their games so captivating.
First off, it’s essential to recognize that Heinrich is narrating the story from his perspective. At the outset of the first part, he delivers a few lines as an older iteration of himself. This means that all occurrences are inherently skewed by his worldview. So perhaps Istvan wasn’t all that malevolent in the end?
One of Logan’s points is actually difficult to refute: Heinrich takes significantly more lives on screen than Istvan, even if you play him in a very pacifistic manner. This could be because Istvan prefers to have others handle the dirty work… Or does he genuinely possess noble intentions and aim to save lives? After all, according to his own claims, he backs King Sigismund to protect Bohemia from the looming Turkish invasion. Nearly heroic.
During his initial playthrough on Twitch (available here as VOD), Logan quickly introduced several pivotal foundational theories. For instance, that the traveling sword master in Skalitz who instructs Heinrich was dispatched by Istvan himself. Was someone discreetly attempting to train a potential second Erik?
There are bound to be many more intriguing narratives ahead – and it’s just incredibly entertaining to hear Istvan’s voice contemplating about picking nettles and transforming that into wisdom. The stream also benefits from one of the most amusing and chaotic fan groups ever in the chat.
A Truly Unique Community: The Evil Gang
Some of you might be on Twitter and have come across Logan’s fan club, the notorious “Evil Gang.” Naturally, almost everyone there believes that Heinrich is the genuine villain and Istvan is genuinely kind-hearted. For those who are not yet aware, here’s a brief cultural introduction:
Evil Gang is the overarching term for various splinter groups of highly active fans – the specific constellations shift too frequently for us to untangle them here. For now, it suffices to know that they primarily consist of dedicated supporters of Logan/Istvan and the two actors Michael Pitthan (Sir Radzig aka Dadzig) and Jim High (Erik, Captain Thomas, and various bandits). At times they act like one big happy family, while at other moments, there are tragic splits. Mostly the latter. For instance, here between Istvan and Radzig:
