The highly awaited upcoming season for the free multiplayer first-person shooter Delta Force, named “Break,” is scheduled to debut on PC and mobile on July 9. This will be succeeded by the game’s launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on August 19. Developer TiMi Studio Group disclosed this information during a preview livestream, which highlighted new maps, weapons, operators, and features that will be added to the game.
The Delta Force franchise, which began in 1998, received consistent updates until 2009’s Delta Force: Xtreme 2. The series then entered a hiatus until its resurgence by TiMi Studio Group, renowned for Call of Duty Mobile, in December 2024. The game was reintroduced as a free-to-play, team-oriented tactical shooter with contemporary graphics and a variety of playable operators. Delta Force quickly garnered popularity on PC, hitting a peak of 131,000 concurrent players on Steam shortly after its launch, according to SteamDB statistics. By June 21, the game reached a new all-time peak of 162,436 players.
The “Break” season brings a host of new content, such as two new maps, three new weapons, and a new assault class operator named Tempest. Tempest is outfitted with enhanced agility and a drill for disarming foes, thanks to her cutting-edge exoskeleton. The new Operations map presents players with the challenge of infiltrating Tide Prison while disguised as inmates, along with the additional challenge of making an escape. The update also introduces swimming and diving mechanics, improving the tactical shooter’s maneuverability.
Delta Force is Launching on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on August 19
The second new map, Cyclone, incorporates a dynamic weather system that demands players to adjust their strategies to shifting conditions. The update also broadens the arsenal with the addition of a compound bow, KC-17 assault rifle, and wire-guided missiles, each tailored for various tactical uses. TiMi Studio mentioned that certain content will not be accessible on mobile upon the “Break” launch. However, console versions will have access to the Delta Force Black Hawk Down campaign mode from day one.
There has been increasing interest in making Delta Force available on consoles since the game’s open beta in late 2024. While the game will not be launched on last-generation consoles, its debut on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S expands the tactical shooter’s reach to a wider audience. New players on consoles in August are advised to concentrate on earning Weapon XP tokens to secure an advantage.
