It seems that such an extensive prison term is not intentional. In the subsequent screenshot, the player reveals his release date: it is the year -9,818 in the Third Era of Tamriel. Time has been reversed to the point that the player has been sent back to a nonexistent era. A brief reminder: Oblivion is actually set in the year 3E 433.
The unfortunate reality of being imprisoned is not only the time lost (or gained?), but also the decline of skills. While serving time, a random skill diminishes by one point each day. According to a comment, though, this is capped at a maximum of 10 levels. Scribe_Of_Satire was fortunate in that regard.
However, prison isn’t the only prolonged activity in Oblivion Remastered. Another player, for instance, has inflicted a paralysis spell on himself that will render him unconscious for 66 years.
