Battlefield 6: Insider Reveals Strong Insights on Battle Royale, Anticipated Launch Alongside Season 1

Apparently, the ring of fire from Battlefield 5: Firestorm is set to make a comeback. It has long been viewed as a given that Battlefield 6 will incorporate Battle Royale. However, only basic details about the mode have surfaced thus far.

Now, renowned Battlefield leaker Temporyal has disclosed thrilling gameplay insights that provide a clearer understanding of how everything will unfold.

– Firestorm environment
– Mission structure
– Vehicles
– Oversight & Respawns
– Launch date
– Developer

Where does this information stem from?
The dataminer Temporyal acquires his insights directly from the alpha version, which is currently being tested by players globally in Battlefield Labs. Since this information cannot be officially verified, it should be approached with caution. Details may change at any point during development.

A firestorm as the backdrop
The expansive map for BF6’s BR mode is set in California. After a detonation at a covert research facility, the chemical weapon NXC spreads, generating a wall of flames that reduces the playable area in a circle, capturing players – this mechanic returns from Firestorm, the battle royale mode from Battlefield 5.

NXC will also be pivotal in the narrative of EA Motive’s single-player campaign. The scenario is described as follows:

When multiple mercenary groups assault the lab, the commanding officer deploys an elite squad to secure the target zone before the secrets fall into the wrong hands.

Mission Royale
On the BR map, squads can undertake missions (like planting a bomb in a designated area) to gain various advantages, including access cards for vehicle bunkers, weapon drops, and field upgrades that unlock specific class capabilities.

However, missions carry risks: other players can intervene and claim the reward (for instance, by defusing the bomb).

Class gadgets are utilized in missions as well: the engineer can, for example, use the blowtorch to break open safes.

Vehicle bunkers are back
Vehicles also hold significant importance in Battle Royale. Anyone who finds a key card to a vehicle bunker can obtain a powerful vehicle. Vehicle bunkers like these were present in BF5’s Firestorm mode, where battle tanks, for example, remained inactive – a tangible edge for squads that ventured there.

To counter vehicles, BF6 will again feature class gadgets such as rocket launchers and mines. If a squad lacks the appropriate equipment, they will need to scavenge crates containing anti-tank weaponry. Vehicles can be repaired and restocked at resupply stations.

Even after demise,
Those who fall early in a BR match are granted a second chance and can re-enter the game; however, it remains uncertain how long this window lasts. At specific redeploy points, squads can revive their fallen comrades – but only if enemy players do not seize the point and hinder the respawn.

Moreover, those who are permanently eliminated can still assist: rather than merely watching, deceased players can manage cameras, drones, and towers in the Oversight system and aid their squad from beyond the grave. For this purpose, the team must capture an Oversight terminal.

Additional thrilling details:

– Abandoned vehicles contain loot but may have alarms.
– Armor plates can be acquired from the supply crate of the supply class, for example.
– Melee kills of downed players briefly disclose their team’s location.
– The NXC fire ring incinerates everything and everyone, causing damage to nearby players.
– Vehicle key cards can be retrieved from defeated opponents.
– Loadout drops feature weapons crafted in the Gunsmith.

When is BR expected to be released?
Dataminer Temporyal believes that the Battle Royale mode will debut in Season 1 of BF6, with the US West Coast potentially serving as the central theme. Leaked artwork has hinted at skirmishes in the Hollywood Hills, though New York is reportedly the only US location available at launch.

Temporyal states that a content package focused on L.A. would also be a logical marketing strategy for the initial season – then the two California-centered multiplayer maps, Badlands and Eastwood, a downtown remaster from BF Hardline (also from Ripple Effect), along with Battle Royale, could be released simultaneously.

This is further supported by the fact that BR-relevant content like the armor system is tied to “S1,” as per Temporyal in an interview with GlobalESportNews.

Who is behind the BR development?
The (currently unnamed) Battle Royale is said to be a standalone Free2Play spin-off from Battlefield 6. The mode is in development by Ripple Effect (previously DICE L.A.) under the leadership of Respawn founder Vince Zampella.

This effectively debunks the frequently heard assertion that a Battle Royale would divert resources from the main game’s development – since the multiplayer developer DICE is not involved in the Battle Royale aspect in the first place.
