Cyberpunk 2077 is getting a Game of the Year edition, developer CDPR has confirmed. According to the Polish website Stockwatch, CDPR president and joint CEO Adam Kiciński stated that Cyberpunk 2077 will follow Wither 3’s path and get a GOTY year edition after its expansion release.

“It’s a natural order of things – it was the same with The Witcher, which after both expansions was finally released as a Game of the Year Edition and has been operating on the market ever since. The same can be expected in this case,” he said.

When will the Cyberpunk 2077 Game of the Year edition release?

Cyberpunk 2077’s expansion, Phantom Liberty, is scheduled to launch sometime in 2023. That means the Game of the Year edition will follow soon after which will include the base game and the expansion. The expansion is releasing for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC only so we can expect the GOTY to release exclusively for these platforms.

“The target version of “Game of the Year” “CP2077” will be just after the update and including the new addition. This version will be available at “full” price,” Adam Kiciński added.

Cyberpunk 2077 will continue to live on, perhaps outside the gaming world

Cyberpunk 2077 has had a resurgence in the last couple of months. Since CDPR announced the expansion and new content related to the Edgerunners series was released, players flocked back to the game. In September, the game hit its second-highest player count since launch.

The Phantom Liberty expansion is set to be the only expansion for the game but CDPR has confirmed that the IP will continue to grow outside the gaming world.
