Operation Dread Factor has finally been deployed into the Rainbow Six Siege ecosystem, and with it, an ambitious roadmap pushes a little further onwards. In this latest update to the seven-year-old game, players can get their hands on an all-new Operator named Fenrir. That’s at the core of the update, but outside of that deliverable, dozens of changes have been made to existing Operators, weapons, maps, and more.

It’s a sizeable update that emerges as the second season of ‘Year 8’ of the Rainbow Six Siege roadmap. At present, the R6S roadmap is well on track, and Operation Dread Factor is the latest item that ticks boxes written up several weeks ago when the roadmap for this year was detailed. There’s plenty yet to be delivered in the year ahead, though – check it out below.

Since 2015, Rainbow Six Siege has been steadily growing its footprint as a top-tier esports and multiplayer title, and that growth isn’t over yet. Later this year, Ubisoft will deliver on all-new competitive events, offer up countless reworks and inject fresh content into the age-old ecosystem. There’s a new map set to drop in a few weeks, a new playlist, a ‘Quick Match 2.0’ function, and countless additions in the following categories:

  • Player Protection
  • Player Comfort & Onboarding
  • Console Improvements

There’s plenty on the way, but what has been delivered as part of the Operation Dread Factor update? If you haven’t secured the download yet, it’s available to install as we speak, and in terms of storage space, it’ll cost you:

  • XSX – 5.28 GB / Xbox One – 6.26 GB
  • Ubi Connect – 8.58 GB / Steam 5.4 GB

What’s Included in Operation Dread Factor?

Fenrir makes up the most important part of Operation Dread Factor. He’s an all-new defender (two-speed, two-health) who boasts bulletproof, deployable mines that release a toxic gas cloud when triggered. In Ubisoft’s breakdown of the new Operator, it was revealed that he totes an MP7 and an SASG-12, along with a Bailiff 410 as a secondary, and his gadgets consist of barbed wire and a bulletproof camera.

There’s also a rework that has been applied to the Consulate map, which reportedly affects ‘all floors and sites’. In order to address the ongoing ‘player comfort’ changes, Ubisoft has reworked spawns on this map to ‘allow for a safer approach’ for players. That’s not all – the Shooting Range has also seen a new update, with a brand new aiming lane being introduced that’ll allow players to better test their weapons before heading into battle.

Outside of those changes, there’s the inclusion of a permanent arcade playlist that features:

  • Headshots Only
  • Free For All
  • Golden Gun
  • Snipers Only
  • Deathmatch

Grim has received a serious buff in Operation Dread Factor, a new gadget (Observation Blocker) has been introduced, and countless changes have been made to other operators. Ubisoft has applied a price decrease to all Operators, offered up an exclusive seasonal weapon skin (as usual), and made dozens of ‘tweaks and bug fixes’ across the board.

So, Operation Dread Factor definitely is a sizeable update!
