EVO is the biggest event on the fighting game calendar, and we’re fast approaching 2023’s tournament. There are still tournaments like Combo Breaker to come, but Sony has just announced some big new events for the Road to EVO 2023.
This is going to be a new series coming through PlayStation Tournaments and FGC Arcade. It’ll feature events in some of the top fighting games featured at EVO, with a few chances for players to win their last-minute place at the tournament. The event is going to give players in different regions a chance to win their way to EVO. They’ll get their travel expenses and more covered.

The road to EVO is going to give players a chance to compete at the main event for fighting games esports. Fittingly, it’s offering tournaments in most of the titles with major events at EVO 2023. These are the games that are going to be featured.

- Dragon Ball FighterZ
- Melty Blood Type Lumina
Format
The tournament is going to be broken up into a few different regions. For each of these, there will be four open qualifiers held. The top players in each region will then compete against each other to win the Road to EVO 2023. Those who win get a prize for this tournament, but also the chance to attend EVO and fight it out with the rest of the world’s top players in their games.
The Road to EVO 2023 is a great way to get more international players at the tournament. Some of these players might even go on to win major events at EVO 2023, so this could be a good place to watch for emerging talent in these games.
