Leaks are an unavoidable part of major live games, with fans often scouring the files to try and get a peek at what’s coming next. Sometimes though those behind the games score a complete own goal and let something out accidentally. It appears we’ve just had a pretty major one for Apex Legends, with EA themselves leaking the Season 17 Legend.
In an update to coincide with a new Collection event, EA has given even an early sneak peek at the next legend coming to the game. Along with, potentially, a new weapon that could be coming with him.
Season 17 Legend Leaks
Season 16 of Apex has been notable for being the first without a brand-new Legend getting added. Along with being a kind of messy season, between crashes at the ALGS and a broken event. This has only built the hype for when we do finally get another new character when Season 17 launches. EA has seemingly accidentally leaked the design for the Legend in a piece of official art that’s made its way onto their website.
The Veiled Collection event has added a few bits to the game like Caustic skins. Fans heading to the official website to see what’s changes might have got more than they bargained for though. An unannounced Legend seems to have been used as the banner art for the collection instead of something promoting the event itself.

This could be viewed as a kind of marketing stunt, but EA quickly removed the image once fans took notice. This has led many to think that it is in fact an upcoming legend, potentially even the Season 17 Legend.
The character appears against a Blue background with an older look than most of the cast. In terms of his powers and focus, the official art depicting him with as of yet unreleased gun might give us a few clues.
Is Apex Getting a Tactical Pistol Too?
This leak has unveiled the Season 17 Legend early. That’s at best. If this isn’t the Season 17 character, then EA has managed to leak a Legend potentially 6 months away. On top of that though, he’s holding a new type of pistol. Fans immediately recognised the resemblance to Titan Fall’s Smart Pistol. A powerful bit of kit that might be perfect for climbing up the Apex Legends ranking system.
This weapon is yet to make an appearance in Apex. Being tied to a new Season 17 Legend might even make it part of his kit. Instead of an item you loot around the map. The Smart Pistol would be a powerful addition to the lootpool for the game. Or it could make the new Legend into one long-time Titanfall fans might apricate a little more.
We’re still a little while off from the release date of Apex Legends season 17, with a whole Collection event ongoing. Once we get closer though, we can expect some more solid Apex Legends news on if this is the Season 17 Legend and what the Smart Pistol means for players.
