Gamers8 is gearing up for another year of tournaments across gaming. Gamers8 fighting games aren’t the most eye-catching compared to Fortnite, but the prize pools that have just been announced could mean that’s going to change this year. A Gamers8 Tekken 7 tournament has just been unveiled, with an enormous $1,000,000 prize! This event follows on from similar tournaments at DreamHack SD for fighting games, but it’s a massive increase in scale.

The events being held in 2023 look set to be a lot bigger than we saw in 2022. The Gamers8 Tekken 7 event in particular is set to be a highlight for the game.

The first fighting game for Gamers8 has been announced just following the conclusion of the event at DreamHack SD. The tournament will be held at Gamers8 alongside other games like Fortnite Gamers8 like in previous years, but it is getting a step up.

The Gamers8 Tekken event is going to feature a prize pool of $1,000,000! That’s just for one game, and a staggering increase on the $270,000 prize pool for Tekken in 2022. That’s more for a single game than all fighting games had last year.

The event will surely feature the top talent in Tekken, competing for a share of such a huge prize pool. This is just the first event we’ve seen announced for fighting games though.

Gamers8 as a whole is returning on July 6th. It’s home to a lot of tournaments, including a Fortnite tournament and Rocket League. The fighting game component isn’t the biggest but this increased prize pool for Tekken definitely opens things up.

Other Gamers8 Fighting Games

Tekken7 is the first Gamers8 2023 fighting game announced. It isn’t going to be the last though. In the unveiling for Tekken, Gamers8 referred to it specifically as the first fighting game being featured. We’ll likely get more as we get closer to the event, and these tournaments could feature huge prize pools too.

In 2022 Gamers8 held three events. There was one for Tekken 7, one for Street Fighter, and one for Guilty Gear Strive. There’s a lot more competition for high-end fighting game tournaments in 2023 with expansions like Street Fighter 6’s inaugural prize pool. This Tekken 7 event is one of the biggest on the calendar for the year though. For a few of these games, Gamers8 is becoming as big as EVO.
