Amazon”s MMO is set to receive many innovations this year, most notably the move to a Season model. We show you what”s hidden in the roadmap

New World wants to offer its players some innovations this year. The MMO is to be kept fresh with regular seasons, even a season pass is included. We have all the information about the next big update, but also the roadmap for the rest of the year ready for you.

What”s in the Seasons?

New World will receive a new season every 3 months, starting with Camaraderie and Fire on 28 March. You can read more about the first season below.

You can expect new quests, items, skins and usually also a new story, most of which you can only experience in the respective seasons. New expeditions are also often part of the game. In addition, every three months there”s a new Season Pass:

What”s in the Seasonpass?

(There are supposed to be 100 levels per Seasonpass. Here''s what you can unlock in the first few.)

You can unlock some content during your playtime in the new Season Pass. Either play sparingly and bag a few items in the Free Pass or shell out some cash to get your hands on extra items in the Premium Pass.

  • How much does the Premium Pass cost? 20,000 Lucky Tokens, the in-game currency of New World, are required. This corresponds to about 20 US dollars. By the way, if you play the Premium Pass all the way through, you”ll get 7500 Lucky Tokens back – of which 2500 Lucky Tokens belong to the Free Pass.
  • What”s in it? In addition to the aforementioned Lucky Tokens, the Season Pass also includes new skins, pets, weapons and armour. However, the weapons and equipment behind the pay barrier can also be unlocked in the normal game – just not with the special skin.
  • How do I climb levels? There are several ways to climb the Seasonpass ladder. From level 25 you can participate and gain progress through the new story, certain challenges and normal gameplay activities like fighting. In addition, there”s a kind of bingo mini-game that you can also use to level up in the Season Pass. You can see what that looks like here:

The first season: camaraderie and fire

New Story: A new story awaits you, in which you assemble a mercenary troop called Silver Crows. The first client is also a familiar character: Skye, the Spear Daughter needs your help to stop a powerful warlock.

New Expedition: For players level 60 or higher, the Empyreum Forge is waiting to be discovered. With a Knight of Artorius, you”ll head into the canyon to stop a mysterious stream of magic.

Old stories told anew: The main storylines in Weaver”s Moor and Lightwood have been revised. There is now a new story in the areas, more variety in the tasks and more surprises.

Further innovations: There”s also a new heart jewel ability, a new equipment set store and more seasonal events such as the spring blossom, in keeping with the coming season.

Roadmap 2023: Here”s how to get there

New World has also unveiled its planned path for the future with the following roadmap:

(With four seasons, New World should receive enough new content this year.)
(With four seasons, New World should receive enough new content this year.)

Some new content will be added in the second season, for example the possibility to set the outer appearance independently of the armour values (Transmog). In autumn, some will certainly be happy about the mounts, so that the feet don”t hurt so much from eternal running. But as is also noted in the picture: The planning can still change in the course of the year. So wait patiently and don”t be too disappointed if content is postponed or dropped.

What do you think of the plan to give New World a seasonal model? Do you think it”s the right step to give the MMO another boost or are you sceptical about the announcements? Feel free to let us know in the comments!
