With Season 2 we not only get the new resurgence map Ashika Island, but also some new features on Al Mazrah.

With Season 2 we not only get the new resurgence map Ashika Island, but also some innovations on the already existing Battle Royale map Al Mazrah.

Those who like to travel on foot in Warzone 2 should prick up their ears now, because from 15 February, not only will the public transport be improved, but also some new pedestrian routes will be created there.

Public Transport ☻ Redeploy Drones

Since, unlike Ashika Island, we still have to do without Redeploy drones and the associated fast travel on Al Mazrah, the developers of Warzone 2 have come up with something different for the popular BR map.

Instead of swinging ourselves on ropes to lofty heights and then landing somewhere else by parachute, we”ll be travelling old school by train on Al Mazrah in future.

(We''ll have to do without Redeploy drones on Al Mazrah for the time being, but true gentlemen travel by train anyway).
(We”ll have to do without Redeploy drones on Al Mazrah for the time being, but true gentlemen travel by train anyway).

Along with the Season 2 update, a new train will roll across the map that, unlike the existing goods train, will have individual passenger cars that can be entered via doors. It will also be possible to access the roof of the train via hatches.

Similar to the goods train that already circles Al Mazrah, the passenger train will also have first-class loot, making it a hotly contested landing point, especially at the start of a game.

Unfortunately, the developers have not yet announced which route the new train will take.

New POI

In addition to the new railway route, we can also look forward to two new POIs. It seems as if the developers had an open ear for the community, which has been criticising the area in the north of Al Mazrah for a long time.

Between Rohan Oil and Taraq Village, a new underground cave system is being created, which will connect the two points and is packed with loot.

There will be a total of five entrances to the cave, which will finally allow us to avoid the above-ground desert landscape that characterises the north of Al Mazrah and offers few opportunities for cover.

As the second POI, the developers are bringing back a true classic. CoD veterans in particular may well remember “Afghan”, which celebrated its debut in 2009 as the multiplayer map of Modern Warfare 2.

The iconic plane wreckage will be found near the already existing POI Sattiq Cave in the middle of Al Mazrah and should make the so far relatively unspectacular area a little more interesting in the future.

Are we getting a new Call of Duty in 2023 after all? Release date and details revealed for new title

Are we getting a new and full-fledged Call of Duty game in 2023 after all? New leaks are fuelling the rumour mill and suggest this conclusion

It was only on 8 February that Activision reconfirmed the development of its “premium release” for autumn 2023, but new information now casts doubt on whether the announced release is actually just an expansion for Modern Warfare 2.

DLC becomes full game

This is apparently how fast it can happen. Several leaks suggest that the planned premium release for 2023 will become a full-fledged Call of Duty game after all.

Two reliable industry insiders have confirmed that the game will not only get a beta, but also a standalone campaign with Early Access. In addition, they say a full marketing campaign is planned, as is common with full-price titles.

While this is not yet official confirmation of a change from DLC to full game, it would be very unusual to have both a beta and an Early Access campaign for a simple expansion to the main Modern Warfare 2 game.

Release already known

As reported by both known leaker Tom Henderson and insider Jason Schreier, a simple DLC for Modern Warfare 2 was initially still planned to bridge the time until a new Call of Duty game.

In the meantime, however, Activision had come to the decision not to develop a new CoD game in 2023, contrary to the initial statements, but to do exactly that now.

According to information from Henderson, the new title will receive a full marketing campaign, a beta and Early Access campaign.

In his report for (insider-gaming.com), the well-known leaker even already names the dates for the respective phases of the new Call of Duty:

  • Beta Weekend 1 (PS4/PS5) – October 6, 2023 – October 10, 2023
  • Beta Weekend 2 (PS4/PS5/Xbox/PC) – October 12, 2023 – October 16, 2023
  • Early Access Campaign (PS4/PS5/Xbox/PC) November 2, 2023
  • Full Release (PS4/PS5/Xbox/PC) November 10, 2023

However, according to the two insiders, the fact that Sledgehammer Games is to develop the new title has not changed.
