I’ve been a supporter of dogfighting games ever since I played Elite with my father on his old Acorn computer. He handled the flying while I took care of firing the weapons. Perhaps that distribution of tasks is responsible for my greatest flaw as a pilot: struggling to know when to disengage from a strafe. Once I have my crosshairs locked on an adversary, I maintain my course towards them, guns blazing, until either they burst into pieces or I meet my demise. In the roguelite dogfighter Wind Runners, that reckless attitude is consistently leading to my defeat.
The Wind Runners demo appeared on Steam this past weekend, and I have been attempting to finish a single run of its chaotic dogfighting ever since.
