Hogwarts Legacy will not include playable Quidditch, the developers have confirmed. Although the game will include brooms, its use will be limited to traversal and broom races.

Avalanche Software clarifies the matter in the official FAQs. Under the question “Is Quidditch playable in Hogwarts Legacy?” the answer reads “Quidditch is not playable in Hogwarts Legacy. However, broom flight for traversal and broom race challenges are part of the game. Players can also fly brooms to explore new and familiar locations surrounding Hogwarts Castle.” It also states that players can take Flying classes to master their broomstick flying skills.

Hogwarts Legacy: Developers confirm Quidditch won't be playable in the game

Brooms aren’t the only means of traversing in Hogwarts Legacy. Apparently, players will be able to tame, mount and ride some magical beasts in the game. Other means of travel like Floo Powder or Portkey will most likely not be included as well.

Here’s what we know about Hogwarts Legacy

Hogwarts Legacy is an open-world action RPG that was announced last year at a PS5 showcase event. The game doesn’t revolve around Harry Potter. Instead, it’s set in the 1800s featuring a protagonist that holds the ability to perceive and master Ancient Magic. Your main enemy will be the goblins who want to harness the power of Ancient Magic to rule the world. Players will be able to attend classes, learn spells, and explore the magical world.

Hogwarts Legacy’s launch has been delayed twice, first from 2021 to 2022, and now to 2023. It’s scheduled to release on February 10, 2023, for PC (Steam), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Its release date for Nintendo Switch will be revealed later.
