"More Than 800 Hours: Unique Caverns in Helldivers 2 Few Have Unearthed"

Technically, they aren’t actual caves, but they certainly give off that impression. Coincidentally, the randomly created maps are responsible for this.

With walls, a ceiling, and no visibility of the sky, they’re composed of natural stone. Those of you who are observant will recognize it immediately: this is likely a cave. They are present in Helldivers 2, yet so infrequent that players typically encounter them only after spending hundreds of hours in the game.

## Cave explorers

In a Reddit thread, a player expresses disappointment that caves are so uncommon in Helldivers 2, prompting the community to ask one question: What caves?

## Are there caves now, or not?

As evident, this cartographic anomaly is exceptionally rare. In Helldivers 2, the surfaces of planets are **randomly generated** according to the biomes and type of mission.
Caves in the genuine sense are not included in the environmental features of the various planets, but canyons are, and it’s these rock structures that form the relatively enclosed spaces.

Essentially, the caves are merely canyons that have been generated in such a way that their summits meet and overlap. When this occurs on a large scale, regions entirely surrounded are formed on the map.

Luck with the random generator is also required, which accounts for why even experienced Helldivers have never heard about the caves. Notably, fighting in this terrain is quite challenging: visibility is restricted, space to maneuver is limited, and the stratagems invariably land on the cave’s roof, forcing players to operate without support from orbit. In summary, it is quite hellish, which is why players are now advocating for authentic caves in Helldivers 2.
