Assassin’s Creed Shadows Grows More Difficult with Update 1.0.6, Aligning with Player Expectations

Today signifies the launch of Title Update 1.0.6 for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, introducing a multitude of new features and enhancements to the gameplay. Gamers can now experience a new companion, diverse camera perspectives while riding, and visible headgear during cutscenes. This update, accessible from June 25, 2025, at 16:00 German time, represents a major enhancement to the game, providing a new narrative package and an exciting new difficulty level named “Nightmare.”

The update size differs by platform, with the Xbox Series version being the most substantial at 19 GB, while the PlayStation 5 version stands at 6.27 GB. The PC version is sized at 17 GB, MAC at 9 GB, and Steam at 8.5 GB.

The “Nightmare” difficulty level features tougher adversaries, diminished reaction time for blocking and parrying, as well as more demanding stealth mechanics. Players will notice that assassinations inflict less damage, and enemy AI displays greater aggression and awareness.

A new companion, Rufino, joins the Assassin League, presenting a new questline and a partnership with Critical Role. Rufino, crafted by voice actor Robbie Daymond, provides players with a distinctive storyline and the opportunity to unlock a new trophy/achievement.

Players can now maintain the visibility of their headgear during cutscenes, a highly requested function. This feature can be found in the settings menu under “Gameplay.”

Further modifications include a regional alarm system in the open world, enhanced camera settings for horseback riding, and a performance mode for lower-end PCs. The update also encompasses various bug fixes and enhancements to improve the overall gaming experience.
