Who thrived and who faltered on day one of the FNCS Invitational 2022? Here’s our day one recap of this $1 million tournament.

Day one at the FNCS Invitational 2022 has concluded following six intense games of Fortnite Battle Royale. Fifty of the world’s top duos packed the stage at the Raleigh Convention Center to compete for a share of $1 million. Names such as Fortnite World Cup 2019 winners Kyle “Bugha” Giersdorf and David “Aqua” Wang and four-time FNCS winner Tai “TaySon” Starčič were among those competing to become the first-ever FNCS Invitational 2022 Champions.

With six games down, only six remain as Fortnite prepares to crown the winning duo on Championship Sunday. For now, here is everything that went down on day one at the FNCS Invitational 2022.

Queasy & Veno sit atop the leaderboard after six matches

Heavy tournament favorites Queasy and Veno delivered on all expectations to open day one of the FNCS Invitational. The European powerhouse duo regularly held the high-ground advantage and ultimately earned a Victory Royale in game five. Then, Queasy and Veno secured second place to round out match six, leaving them in first by seven points and with 28 eliminations. They hope to stave off fellow European duos Th0masHD and Tripperrnn, as well as Kami and Setty – the Polish team that won games one and six.

Asia & Brazil impress on day one at the FNCS Invitational

While NA East and Europe captured most of the attention, the Asian and Brazilian regions shocked the onlookers. One duo from each of these territories appeared in abundance on the broadcast. Firstly, Xeat and KBR of the Brazilian region snuck inside the top ten to round out day one. The two players earned 129 points and 15 eliminations to put themselves in striking distance.

Additionally, the Asian duo of Zagou and Merem started strong but slid down the leaderboard. Still, they managed a second and fourth as they hope to put Asia on the map on day two and show how underrated the region is in competitive Fortnite.

Best moments from day one

Shield Bubble rotate Kami & Setty

Beyond winning two matches, Kami and Setty had the rotate of the day, utilizing a Shield Bubble and boat to rotate through a chaotic storm circle. The two ultimately found salvation and breathing room on the other side en route to a second-place position on day one.

Bacca 1v2 Savage & IDrop

NA West players Bacca and On1 boldly challenged European standouts MrSavage and IDrop at Chromejam Junction on day one. The ongoing battle remained even, but Bacca stole the show with a 1v2 victory over the formidable opponents. It was a highlight reel play for two unsung competitors at the FNCS Invitational.

Peterbot does not miss

FNCS winner Peterbot flexed some impressive aiming skills in game six to eliminate Oceania competitor basil. The clip above shows the precision of Peterbot, who goes from a Launch Pad to a mantle and devastates basil without missing a single bullet. That is the true aim of a former FNCS Champion.
